In Africa, a child dies every 45 seconds. This life-threatening disease is caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through bites of infected mosquitoes. Highest at risk are poor communities who cannot afford treatment or have limited access to healthcare, trapping families in a downward spiral of poverty. Ninety percent of Malaria related deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa.
We are closing out NYC Fashion week with the most exciting show of the year! Code Purple Event bursts onto the USS Intrepid on February 16th with three world-renowned designers joined by various musical guests. Proceeds generated from this event will benefit production and distribution of Moskeeto Armor™, a mosquito repellent fabric in a vibrant purple hue, being used to combat malaria around the globe. Join MOOD Fabrics and Code Purple Event as we raise awareness and save lives through fashion.
ING Activewear, Touch The World and the designers associated with this project are all personally committed to launching one of the largest initiatives to help prevent the millions of African children and adults from dying of Malaria every year. Supporters will be playing a direct role to raise crucial funding needed to bring this technology to the masses for support, prevention and education to the more than 225 million cases of Malaria reported each year worldwide.
About Code Purple
This project came to fruition through combining the critical need for a solution to a rampant epidemic with the passion and expertise of a group of colleagues. CODE PURPLE will bring world renowned designers and fashion models in the name of protecting innocent people from contracting Malaria. Each show will feature collections that incorporate the same treated fabric as the Moskeeto HoodE. The vibrant purple hue will be consistent throughout each collection as well as the overall theme of the event. Guests, too, are encouraged to incorporate purple into their wardrobes or accessories in support of the evening.
CODE PURPLE will be an evening to remember. Guests will vary from A-list celebrities to general admission. They will start the evening in a cocktail hour setting enjoying passed food and drink while walking around an exhibition style area with information about the product, show and the mission. VIP section will be closed to general admission. Guests will then be ushered into the runway set for the program. At the conclusion of the show, select pieces featured in the show will be auctioned off in an open-bid format with a live auctioneer. On the way out, guests will walk back through the reception room to purchase HoodE's, make donations, and depart with a gift bag of information and giveaways.
Your support and advocacy will allow MOSKEETO to make an impact in the lives of the millions of people living and dying from Malaria. It is only by working together that we can make a difference and save lives.
